New Oblates Make Their Act of Oblation

“Let us give thanks to God our Father who has graced our brothers and sisters in Christ Crucified with the call of sharing the mission of the Passionist Congregation.” Thus Fr. Frederick Sucher, C.P. began the Oblate Commitment Mass on Sunday, June 26, 2005. These dedicated Oblates had taken part in a three year formation course to prepare themselves to make this Passionist commitment.

Foundation and History of the Passionist Oblates

Among the many Passionist associations springing up all over the world today are the Passionist Oblates associated with the cloistered Passionist Nuns of Whitesville, Kentucky. This work of the Spirit was initiated by Tom and Debbie Carter of Benton, Illinois. The "foundation" of the Oblates of the Passion took place on December 13,  1997, as the first group was admitted by the superior into the formation program.
