A Lenten "Fervorino"

From St. Paul of the Cross …

“What I desire is that you live by faith. ‘The just one lives by faith,’ is what Scripture says.

“The Presence of God: rest your heart in God with a sacred silence of love, as I told you.

“The memory of the Passion of Jesus: make a corsage of all his pains and place it in the bosom of your soul, and let your soul be filled with holy love and sorrow.

“Be humble, abandon yourself to God, live detached from everything, even spiritual consolation, etc., truly poor in spirit, completely a child on the bosom of your sweetest Savior.

“Doubt not that God will teach you wonderful things and overcome every human impediment.

“Drink, my child, at the font of eternal life. By all means drink, for whoever drinks at this sweet fountain will never thirst eternally.”
