80 Years in the Diocese of Owensboro

Giving thanks for our pioneer Sisters

Today - October 7th, 2026 - marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of St. Joseph’s Monastery here in the Diocese of Owensboro. Our five Foundresses (and our first postulant, Sr. Mary, who came with them from Pennsylvania and became “foundress” of our community in Heaven!) left us with a beautiful heritage of love for Christ Crucified and for His Bride, the Church.

Our founding Superior, Mother Mary Agnes (front center in photo), has been a particular inspiration to us over the decades as we seek to live up to her example of selfless Passionist living and particular love for and obedience to Holy Mother Church.

Please join us in giving thanks and praise to the most Blessed Trinity for this special anniversary, and in begging Their continued blessings on this little “nest” of the “Doves of the Crucified” for many decades still to come!
