News and Photos from the General Chapter!
It’s hard to believe that the General Chapter is already nearly over! For the past two weeks, Superiors and delegates from Passionist monasteries around the globe have been praying, listening, discussing, and discerning together. In their messages to us, our own Mother John Mary and Sister Cecilia Maria have shared that the Chapter has been a beautiful experience of sisterly communion. They may hail from four continents and speak nearly ten different languages, but the Capitulars have felt that the bond of the Passionist charism goes deeper than all of this!
Perhaps the most significant decision of the Chapter was the election of the Congregation’s new general leadership for the next 6 years. The voting was held yesterday, May 13th, and the results were as follows:
Mother President: Mother Gertrude (Italian, but currently Superior of the Passionist Nuns in France)
First Councilor (Vicar): Sr. Daniela (Sao Paolo, Brazil)
Second Councilor: Sr. Martina (Indonesian, but currently in Italy)
Third Councilor: Sr. Socorro (Marbel, Philippines)
Fourth Councilor: Sr. Angelica (Medellin, Colombia)

We hope you’ll join us in prayer for these courageous women as they make many sacrifices in service to their Sisters worldwide! Our own Mother Catherine Marie is eagerly looking forward to her return to Whitesville, after a period of transition/adjustment for the new leadership of the Congregation. She has truly “blazed a trail” for all Mother Presidents who will follow her!
