A Holy Week Like No Other ...
Progress on our renovations continues apace, and it’s hard to post updates before they are already “old news”! However, we thought you’d like to hear about our highly unusual Holy Week this year …
Tuesday of holy week
After many delays, the new epoxy-flake flooring was FINALLY installed in our kitchen! The process was as fascinating to watch as it was terrible to smell …
SPY WEDNESDAY
Donna Baldacci and her husband Kirk, of Kaleidoscope Stained Glass, came to install the 3 final stained-glass windows in the Chapter Room. They are magnificent (and merit their own blog post in the near future to do them justice!)
Holy Thursday
Very fittingly, we were able to move into our new refectory on the afternoon of this sacred day. More than one Sister remarked upon how we were “preparing the Passover” for Jesus, just as did Peter and John in the Gospel. The night of the Last Supper, we had our FIRST supper in the beautiful new space!
Good Friday
Thankfully, we were able to spend the day of Our Lord’s Passion and Death in relative peace, remaining with Mary at the foot of the Cross …
Holy Saturday
Busy as always with preparations for the Vigil Mass and our Easter feasting. However, this year was a little more complex for the kitchen Sisters, as we were still cooking in the cloth room and doing dishes in the loggia! All pitched in to make it a peaceful and joyful day, however.
