Parents of Vocations

Discernment of a religious vocation is both a beautiful and a challenging experience— for the discerner, of course, but also for his or her parents. Even the most supportive mom and dad in the world can find themselves with a lot of questions and heartache. Will I ever see her again? Does he know how hard it will be? Is it wrong of me to be sad? Who can I talk to who will understand what I’m going through?

Tom Kissel faced these same questions himself when his daughter entered religious life, and it was this experience that led him to found Parents of Vocations. This webpage provides a wealth of resources, and it also gives a platform for parents to share their stories and advice and support one another.

If your son or daughter (or the child of someone you know) is discerning priesthood or religious life, we invite you to click the image below and check out the Parents of Vocations webpage. We hope that it will be a blessing for you!
