Celebrating Foundation Day - 73 Years in Western Kentucky!
This clipping from a 1946 newspaper is a real treasure! Pictured are the five foundresses of our community: Sr. Frances Marie Livoti, Sr. Mary Cecilia Taylor, Mother Mary Agnes Roche, Sr. Jeanne Marie Wemhoffer, and Sr. Mary Bernadette Rohling, on their way from Scranton, PA to Owensboro, KY, location of St. Joseph Monastery until our relocation to Whitesville in the 1990s.
We are ever grateful for their courage in responding to the Lord’s call to establish the Passionists in Western Kentucky. Even our younger nuns who never met the foundresses cherish the legacy left by these spiritual mothers. Today, as we celebrate the 73rd anniversary of our presence in the Diocese of Owensboro, we give special thanks and praise to the Lord for His great mercy and providence for us over all these years!
