Cloister sign on the back driveway

One of our neighbors has been clearing our driveway for several days so that people can come and go.

We are glad for this as we are awaiting Nora's return! Yes, Nora from New York will be entering the aspirancy program this weekend. Blessed be God!  Please keep her in prayer as she lives the life of a Passionist Nun for the next 3 months discerning God's plan for her life.

In honor of Nora's return for the aspirancy program I thought I would share with you some resources I have come across over the years.  This is by no means an exhaustive list!

Test Your Calling - a Ministry Potential Discerner Vocational Self-Assessment Survey - available as a tool to encourage those discerning God's call in their life.

Vocations Placement Services  - an organization with one mission: to assist those who are investigating a call to religious life in the Roman Catholic Church.

An inspiring interview of the foundress of Vocations Placement Services Natalie Smith by Fr. Mitch Pacwa on EWTN Live.

I just read this book by Fr. Michael Scanlon - What Does God Want? A Practical Guide to Making Decisions .  There is a nice summary of his points here - scroll down

To Save a Thousand Souls: A Guide for Discerning a Vocation to Diocesan Priesthood by Fr. Brett A. Brannen - a great comprehensive guide for men discerning priesthood.

Religious Life Magazine I love this magazine. When our copy arrives I read it almost cover to cover.

Institute on Religious Life There are all kinds of links here to wonderful faithful religious communities throughout the United States. Founded by Fr. John A. Hardon, S. J. in 1974, the IRL has been a collaborative effort of Catholic bishops, priests, religious and laity to foster and strengthen vocations to the consecrated life.

Three websites sponsored by Institute on Religious Life

Cloistered Life

Religious Brotherhood

Vocations to Consecrated Life

Religious Vocation I recently came across this website that has some good articles. Perhaps you'll find it helpful in your discernment.
