Cherish the Flame Update!

St. Joseph is watching over our monastery!

As Thanksgiving day nears, we here at St. Joseph Monastery have many reasons to be grateful. Thanks to the intercession of St. Joseph and the generosity of our many benefactors, we have a BEAUTIFUL NEW ROOF on the entire Monastery, Retreat House, and Chapel!!

Yes, the Cherish the Flame campaign has been moving forward with God’s blessing, and we Sisters see signs of this progress every day. The glorious clay tile roof shines in the morning and afternoon sun. Last week, our maintenance supervisor and volunteers were able to begin changing out ceiling tiles that had been damaged by years of roof leaks, since those roof leaks are no more! Many of the water-damaged drywall ceilings have already been repaired as well. Perhaps best of all … we no longer hear the “tip-tap” of rain hitting the ceiling during a Kentucky thunderstorm!

However, the story is far from over … we are now in the midst of fundraising and planning for the covered cloister walkways, the new Holy Family Wing, the enlargement of our refectory (dining hall), and the kitchen and serving room renovation. Will you help us bring this important project closer to completion?

Click below to read our special Thanksgiving edition of our newsletter, where you can read more about the campaign and see pictures of the progress. Since Mother John Mary wrote this message (seen on pages 2 and 3 of the newsletter), friends like you have already given over $80,000. We are now nearing $2,035,000 in donations, with just over $1.8M yet to be raised. Learn how YOU can help us to improve our contemplative and community life for the sake of the world!
