Live Jesus, so live in me, that all I do be done by Thee,
that all I think and all I say, be Thy thoughts and words this day.

The following are some thoughts from our monastery Christmas newsletter 2010. Let us live the Christmas Mystery every day of the year!
“As religious women in the Church we have surrendered our lives to Christ to be another ‘humanity’ in which He may continue His redemptive work. In the ordinary events of daily life, as well as the bigger things that come our way, we pray to be like Mary who always gave God a whole-hearted ‘Yes, be it done!’
“This yes, as difficult as it sometimes is, allows Christ to be formed more and more in us through the simple as well as the great things of daily life—the prayers, works, joys and sufferings of each day. Nothing is insignificant, nothing is too small to be used by God for the salvation of souls. Our Savior Himself chose the life of growth and work and suffering, and He spent about 30 years in what has been called His ‘hidden life’.
“His life continues in all the baptized. This is a great mystery—that Christ is in us and we are in Him. Being aware of this mystery can turn an ordinary day into treasure for the Church.”
Maranatha! O come, O come, Emmanuel!

Sr. Rose Marie and Sr. John Mary are departing in about 30 minutes to travel to Birmingham! If you read our previous post you know that they are going to be guests on EWTN’s “Life on the Rock” this Thursday night at 7 p.m. central.
They have certainly been surrounded in prayer for weeks now. Last evening all of us Sisters prayed over them before the Pieta statue and in about 15 minutes Mother Catherine Marie is going to bless the van with exorcised oil and salt. May the Sister’s words and actions redound to the greater glory of our Crucified King, a better knowledge of the Passionist Congregation and a greater influx of vocations. That’s quite a lot to ask of a mere show…but with God all things are possible!
If you would like a preview of the spirit and joy of their witness read this article by Sr. Rose Marie on the front of our Summer 2009 newsletter.
If you would like to receive our newsletter in your mailbox please send us your address. This applies only to those living in the United States.

Along with many of you we have been preparing our hearts to celebrate the great Feast of Divine Mercy tomorrow, the 2nd Sunday of Easter. Recently we blessed a new oratory in our monastery cell wing called the Divine Mercy Chapel. Yes, our Lord Jesus’ Eucharistic Presence is now just a couple doors down from our cells! How much He loves us that He makes Himself so present to us. May we all grow in our Eucharistic fervor through this new chapel.

One morning after Mass we had a Eucharistic procession to our new oratory where our Chaplain, Fr. Ray Clark brought our Lord Jesus to reside in His new home.
A note of inspiration…our Sister Rita Marie was called home to the Lord on Holy Saturday…the 2nd day of the Divine Mercy Novena…the day dedicated to praying for priests and religious.
A note of gratitude…we were scheduled to host a Nun Run here this past Tuesday and Wednesday from the Rockford diocese but seeing that this would conflict with the visitation and funeral of Sr. Rita Marie our Carmelite Sisters came to our rescue and took them in. Low and behold, they showed up for the Prayer Service and we had a short visit with them afterwards. What a delight it was to meet them…hmm…perhaps some Passionist and Carmelite vocations are in their midst???
Lastly…I have been wanting to let you know that our most recent newsletter featuring the life of our dear Sr. Mary Bernadette of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is now available to be read on our website. If you are interested in receiving a paper copy of future newsletters in your mailbox just send your name and address and we’ll add you to our newsletter database. *Due to Bulk Mailing this applies only to persons living in the U.S.A.
Don’t forget the ABC’s of the Divine Mercy Devotion
- Ask for mercy
- Be merciful
- Completely trust in Jesus
God love you!
